LAN (now LATAM) has the most extensive route network in South America with group airlines based in Chile, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay, making them the best option for flying around the continent. Their new LATAM livery irks me a bit as I much prefer their pre-merger one, but hey, it’s not the most important factor in deciding which airline to use, is it?
- LA531 Class Ejecutiva
- New York (JFK) – Lima (LIM)

LAN offers fully-lie flat seat in all of their business cabin. While not quite the newest or most innovative product out there, the amount of legroom provided is insanely good. Despite the 2-2-2 configuration, there was no difficulty for those seated near the window to reach the aisle. Moreover, their bedding is solid and ensure I had a sufficient rest for my long trip.
On the other hand, I was not exactly thrilled with the limited amount of space for storage (surely they can afford installing a larger side & meal table for the passengers, no?), or the lack of privacy shield between seats. I also wish the cabin attendant had put more effort to be more welcoming and look less tired.
Considering their pricing strategy, I think it’s worth to spend a little extra to have a good rest on long haul flights. Combine this with LATAM’s vast network in the region, it is easy to advocate choosing them over their South American competitors but I do hope they will try harder to improve their soft and hard product. フラットベッドで快適に寛げるのは大事ですが、やはり飛行中の起きている時間も楽しく過ごしたいと思います。
